What do teachers think about students with mental illness? I know every teacher has like 200 students, but in your experience can you tell based on personality traits or behaviors? It feels like they think it's more of a hassle because of excess absences and late work. In general I'm curious to know what teachers really do think tho, because many kids don't LOOK depressed or anxious but have severe issues that can fly under the radar and I don't wanna look like it's for attention :/
Teachers should be understanding. We are not mind readers so we can’t always tell. You should talk to your teachers to explain what is going on. It won’t be an “excuse” or for “attention.” You need to focus on your mental health, and sometimes school needs to come second.
